About this antenna

A wide 120° sector for single-port radios. Three of them on one pole give full 360° coverage with considerably more reach than an omni; one on the side of a building covers the ground in front of it, which is where the users usually are.

In fairness to the reader: the datasheet quotes 15 dBi, and the manufacturer's own range measurements, reproduced below, show 13.7 to 14.8 dBi across 3.8–4.2 GHz, with a horizontal beamwidth of 115° to 126°. We would plan a link budget on 14 dBi.

Where it fits

  • A wall bracket near the eaves of a building, looking out over a yard, car park or field.
  • Three on one pole for all-round coverage with more reach than an omni.
  • Single-port radios, or one polarisation of a pair.

Radiation pattern

Measured radiation pattern of the TDB-4000-4200-16-120 at 4.0 GHz

The manufacturer's range measurements. The wide shaded trace is the horizontal (azimuth) pattern and the narrow lobe the vertical (elevation) pattern; rings are 5 dB apart. The software labels the two planes E and H the other way round from the convention for a vertically polarised antenna, which is why the 7° trace is marked H.
