Aerix

Our Story

We started Aerix because we believe everyone deserves access to advanced wireless connectivity.

The Problem We Saw

Private 5G networks are transforming how businesses operate. But in the UK, every provider targets the same customer: large enterprises with deep pockets. Meanwhile, rural communities struggle with 2Mbps connections, holiday parks can't offer guests reliable WiFi, and small businesses in city centres fight for bandwidth on congested public networks.

What We Do Differently

We build private 5G networks for the customers everyone else ignores. Rural communities, small businesses, and city centres. We don't require six-figure contracts or months of enterprise sales processes. We offer transparent pricing, simple onboarding, and networks that just work.

The Llanthony Valley Story

Our journey started in the Llanthony Valley, deep in the Brecon Beacons. This remote Welsh community had been surviving on a 2Mbps connection — when it worked at all. No provider was willing to invest in infrastructure for a handful of homes and farms.

We deployed a private 5G network that transformed the valley. Residents went from barely being able to load a webpage to streaming, video calling, and running businesses from home. It proved that private 5G isn't just for factories and warehouses — it's for people.

Our Approach

We handle everything. Site survey, network design, equipment installation, and ongoing operations. We monitor the network 24/7 and handle all maintenance and upgrades. You don't need to become a telecoms expert — you just need to pick a router and subscribe.

Looking Ahead

We're expanding across the UK, bringing private 5G to more communities and businesses that need it. From Welsh valleys to English city centres, our mission remains the same: proper broadband for everyone, not just big business.

The People

Behind Aerix

Aerix was co-founded by two people with deep, complementary track records — one in radio and telecoms engineering, the other in building UK internet and telephony businesses from scratch.

Andrew Miles

Co-founder & Technical Director

Andrew is Aerix's Technical Director. He read Physics at Durham University and started his career in telecommunications at STC's R&D division (later Nortel) in Harlow, working on radio systems and semiconductors.

From there he moved into technical and product management roles across telecommunications, time-synchronisation and GPS — at consultancies and product manufacturers. More recently he worked on wide-band mmWave communication systems contributing to a series of innovative public-sector connectivity projects in Liverpool.

He co-founded Aerix to bring private and neutral-host 5G to the UK organisations the major operators don't serve well.

Peter Gradwell

Co-founder

Peter is a UK technology entrepreneur who has spent more than two decades building and scaling businesses at the intersection of internet infrastructure and telecommunications.

Gradwell Communications grew from domain names and web hosting into Voice over IP telephony and broadband, always led by Peter's instinct for spotting what customers needed before they knew it themselves — and a willingness to cannibalise existing product lines in favour of better ones.

After building Gradwell into a multi-million pound business with tens of thousands of customers and eventually stepping away from the company that still bears his name, Peter turned his attention to IQ Mobile and Aerix — building private 5G mobile networks and SIM-based telephony for businesses, farms and industrial sites that need their own mobile coverage rather than another consumer SIM contract.
