Transport & Logistics
Private 5G networks for ports, depots, rail corridors, and fleet operations. Real-time tracking, V2X communications, and digital twins — without the enterprise price tag.
UK ports, depots, and freight operators need reliable, high-capacity connectivity for real-time tracking, autonomous vehicles, and safety systems. But enterprise 5G contracts are priced for the biggest operators. We build private networks for regional transport businesses that need the same capability at a fraction of the cost.
What Private 5G Enables
Real-time connectivity for every part of the transport and logistics chain.

Port & Depot Connectivity
Replace fragmented legacy networks with a single managed 5G network. Track individual items within containers, not just the container itself. Enable real-time digital twins of your entire operation.

Fleet & Vehicle Management
V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) communications for cyclist and pedestrian alerts, junction assistance, and coordination of autonomous vehicles. Green light prioritisation for freight and public transport.

Safety & Inspections
Deploy drones for safety inspections of infrastructure, reducing worker risk and operational disruption. Network slicing separates mission-critical safety data from general traffic.

Passenger Experience
Dynamic scheduling based on real-time occupancy monitoring. Personalised journey information across multi-modal transport networks. Reliable connectivity for passengers and staff.

Why Aerix
Most private 5G providers target the UK's largest ports and national freight operators. Regional depots, smaller ports, and local transport businesses are left with fragmented legacy networks or overpriced enterprise contracts. We build the same capability for operators who need it but can't justify six-figure infrastructure spend.

Common questions
Why use private 5G in a depot or distribution centre?
Modern depots run automated docks, vehicle-to-infrastructure data, asset tracking, telematics for cab integration, CCTV, and connected workers. Public mobile is patchy across yards and inside warehouses; Wi-Fi cannot cover outdoor space economically. Private 5G covers the whole site — yard, gates, warehouse, offices — on one network.
Can it cover the whole yard for asset and vehicle tracking?
Yes. One outdoor 5G radio covers a few hundred metres of open ground; most UK depots fit within two or three radios. Trailers, swap-bodies, MHE, and vehicles all carry SIM-equipped trackers that report continuously, indoors and outdoors, on the same private network.
How does it handle fleet telemetry at scale?
A private 5G network can carry telemetry from hundreds of vehicles or thousands of devices simultaneously, with QoS policies that prioritise safety-critical data. Devices authenticate by SIM, so adding or removing a vehicle is an operations action, not an IT integration project.
Will it integrate with our TMS, WMS or telematics platform?
Yes. The network sits below your applications as IP transport. Existing TMS, WMS, telematics, yard management and ERP systems see private 5G the same way they see existing wired or wireless networks. We support standard interfaces and integrate with the systems you already run.
Is rail trackside connectivity a use case?
Yes. Aerix has worked on rail-related connectivity (FRMCS, trackside sensors, level crossing surveillance, depot-side rolling stock). Private 5G is well-suited because it provides predictable wireless coverage along corridor-shaped infrastructure where fibre is impractical.
Ready to connect your transport operation?
Whether you run a regional port, a logistics depot, or a fleet operation, we can build a private 5G network that fits your scale and budget.
